Dinosaurs Day 8: Mesozoic Era

Mesozoic Era
Read: read/do pages page 4-5 in Dinosaurs:Diggin' Discovery (A+ Let's Grow Smart!).

Discuss: "THE AGE OF REPTILES"
The climate of the Mesozoic Era was generally warmer and more tropical than
what we experience on Earth today.
The seasons were very mild.
There was no polar ice.
Sea level was higher.
Greenhouse conditions existed and there could have been higher concentrations of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Polar regions had seasonal climates with windswept forests during the winter and
cool damp rainforests during the summer.

There are three periods in the Mesozoic Era:
  • Triassic -Plateosaurus
  • Jurassic -Brachiosaurus
  • Cretaceous -Lambeosaurus
Dinosaur Flashcard: Separate the Dinosaur Flashcards into Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods.

Dinosaur Journal:
Draw pictures and write about a dinosaur from each Mesozoic period.

Mesozoic Era Time Line
Directions:
Cut out the Mesozoic Era Time Line and place dinosaur flashcards under the time period that they belong.

DINOSAUR GRAPH
Graph the sizes of the dinosaurs. Then answer the questions at the bottom of the page.

In the graph, each box represents 10 feet. For each dinosaur, color in the right number of boxes to show how long it is.

Hi, thanks so much for sharing your great unit studies! I was wondering if there are more days in the dinosaur study. I see days 8-16. Thanks again! Caroline
